Siquijor: Isla Del Fuego
Siquijor, otherwise known as Isla Del Fuego, is an island south of Cebu. It got the monicker because according to the Spaniards that came to the island, they notice it gave off an eerie glow, which came from the great swarms of fireflies that harbored in the numerous molave trees on the island.Interestingly enough, Siquijor is also known to be a place of witchcraft, sorcery and a magic. Its not surprising to here people saying "lumay"( love potion) or "barang" (vodoo) a lot when they'll know that you'll be going to Siquijor.
There are around 95,000 people living in Siquijor as of the present and is the third smallest province in the Philippines after Camiguin and Batanes.
Going to Siquijor from Cebu
When i went to Siquijor the other day from Cebu City Cebu, it took me 3 hours by land and another 2 and a half hours by ferry. There are a lot of routes to go to the Siquijor from Cebu. One can go to Pier 4 and take Lite Shipping (12 hour trip since it has to stop by Tagbiliran Bohol) or go to Dumaguete and take a fast ferry there and go to Siquijor. However, by far the fastest among all routes would be the one from Oslob Cebu to Larena, Siquijor. It took me only 6 hours from the usual 8-12 hours. Moreover, you don't have to transfer to another vessel or terminal nor go to other hassles. Its such a great route from Cebu.
From Manila take a plane to Cebu (see flight schedules)
From Cebu City take the Ceres Bus to Dumaguete (Via Tampo Bato) and tell the driver to drop you off at Oslob Port

After arriving at the Oslob Port take the Super Shuttle Ferry Vessel. It leaves the port at EXACTLY 9:30 am and will arrive at the Larena Port around 12:00 noon. It leaves Larena port by 2:00 pm and will arrive back at Cebu around 4:30. This is available from Thursday to Sunday every week.
Go to Pier 4 in Cebu City Cebu and take the Fast ferry from Ocean Fast Ferries Corporation to Siquijor. I'm not so sure if this route is still running, but since they still have it in their website i assumed they do. Please verfiy first.
