Well, How to use "very" in Cebuano is opposite to how we use it in English. In English we normally say " very good" in Cebuano on the other hand we say " good very." Read on more the lesson and learn how to say "You're VERY Beautiful!"
Vocab for the Day
|Very||Kaau/ Kaayo (Ka-a-you)|
|Sleep||Tulog(Too-loog)/ Tug (toog)|
|Urinate||Ihi (yi-hee(intonation going down))|
|Really?||Tinuud ba? lagi?(La-gi)|
What is kaau? kaau in the English translation means "very", which is an English adverb, expression of comparative degree. Same with the English language, kaau is used to put a higher comparative degree to an adjective or verb. However unlike in English wherein Very is placed before the adjective(ex. very smart, very funny), in Cebuano, kaau is placed after.
|Very Fun!||Lingaw kaau!||Fun Very|
|He is very annoying||Samok kaau siya||Annoying Very Him|
|The food is very delicious||Lami au ang pagkaon||Delicious very the food|
*Sometimes, you can omit the syllable ka to make it sound more "conversational."
So how do we say "You're Very beautiful?" (Gwapa kaau ka)
Good luck in your courting prowress! ^^
