Motels

Where are the Motels in Cebu?

A Motel as described by Wikipedia is a type of hotel designed for a motorists convenience with a parking area just right beside the room the customer is staying. In the Philippines however, motels are connoted to be places where lewd acts are done- in other words where sex is the sole purpose for the stay. Since customers don't usually stay long in these type of hotel, charges are made usually on a per hour basis where 4 hours is usually the minimum and additional charges are made after-hence the term "short time". Motels in Cebu can be found all over, but are normally hidden from public eye. Some motels even have "fantasy roooms" where the rooms are designed to be themed like Egyptian room, Love room, and Sci Fi room- though quite rare in Cebu.

Speaking Cebuano 2nd (Verb-Subject)

Speaking Cebuano 2nd Lesson (Verb-Subject Agreement)

In this lesson we will tackle what the sentence structure of Cebuano is. As you know Cebuano is far different from English. While English has a Subject Verb Agreement, in Cebuano on the other hands, its the complete opposite. Cebuano has a distinct Verb- Subject- Object Agreement. Weird huh?

Transport System

Transport System

Jeepney-   The infamous jeepney of the Philippines, truly a one of a kind transport system. These are actually jeeps used by the Americans in the 1950's that are modified with an extended passenger accommodation. Well obviously now things has changed and though you won't find those 1950's jeepney, equivalents or similar ones are still there. A ride in a jeepney would cost you at the LEAST 8 pesos( thats around a sixth of a dollar)  and it increases after a couple of kilometers. Jeepneys literally stop anywhere, so whether you are at the center of the road or at the side, they will stop for you if you call them ( the sad thing about the Philippines transport system, i really hope this changes). When riding a jeepney you tell the driver where you will get off, but make sure that its part of the route of the jeepney, or else you will get no where. When arriving at your desired destination, you can have the jeepney stop by telling the driver "para" and tapping the side exterior of the jeepney.
jeepney
* the person at the back is what they call the "konductor" or conductor. This person is actually  a friend or a relative of the driver helping him out in collecting payments for the ride.

Taxis-  Flag down rate is at 30 pesos for the first 3 kilometers and you pay 2.5 pesos for every 200 meters thereafter. Don't pay taxi drivers "flat rates" which are rates that don't involve the taxi meter.  Taxi drivers wants you to pay flat rates since its usually double the price of what they get if they just put up the taxi meter. Around the city, and riding a taxi would cost you at the MAX a 100 pesos. Cebu city to Mactan would cost you around 150-200 pesos.

Tricycle- is a three-wheeled vehicle thats popular in South East Asian countries, with Philippines being no exception to it. Where Jeepneys can't go, tricycles dominate the roads. Its kind of annoying sometimes though when you see hundreds of them just swerving there way in traffic and most of these drivers if not all of them don't probably have any idea on road rules and etiquette.  Depending on the place and the distance, a ride could cost you as low as 10 pesos to as much as 50 pesos. Though not found on major thoroughfares, they're quite common on the small roads and provincial areas of the island.

Metro Cebu - Queen City of the South

In spite the rapid growth and sudden influx of people coming to live and enjoy Cebu, the island still retained some of its quaint and town-like atmosphere that it was known for. Cebu is the island that is still famous for its pristine white beaches, spectacular diving spots, and hospitable people.

However, this does not stop here.

The rich culture and mouth-watering local cuisine are another aspect of Cebu that is just waiting for you to discover once you visit the island. Aside from this, the night life is as exciting as any other city in the world, with bars, clubs and pubs all over. From food choices, to white beaches, in Cebu there is always something for everyone. Whether you're a guy that loves to party, or someone that just loves to chill, Cebu is the perfect place.
