Well, after 4 months of rehabilitaion, i have to say that Osmena Boulevarad couldn't look so much more beatuiful. Given the limited budget the project team had (since most of the funds came from private donations), fair to say, they managed it pretty well: In leiu of the more expensive bricks, cement and red paint was use; The old trees and plant boxes of the boulevard were given facelifts; and spanish era looking lamposts were placed to add to the whole cultural look that the project team were aiming for.
Overall, i think the project really looks promising. Although we may not get a singaporeish type of boulevard (orchard road), at the very least we do get a walkable and a more prettier boulevard than what we had. Hey, cant complain when all the funds came from the private sector right. i do hope though that the government sees the potential in making the streets of Cebu City more pedestrian friendly though, and probably transfer some of the social services fund to it.
Phase 2 of the project would include the street going all the way to Sancianco Street.
